Bojangles Launches Nationwide EV Charging Initiative

Bojangles is giving EV drivers a good reason to stop by the restaurant, besides its chicken and biscuits.

The Southern chicken chain has opened the first of its new “charge and dine” EV charging stations at its Ogeechee Road location in Savannah, Georgia.

Launched in partnership with EV charging and sustainable infrastructure company XLR8 America and Energy and Environmental Design Services, the Savannah EV location is just the first of what the brand says is “a larger initiative to bring EV charging infrastructure to Bojangles restaurants across the country.”

“Driving trends are changing, and so are the expectations that come with them,” said Richard Del Valle, chief information officer at Bojangles, in a release. “With EV charging, time becomes an asset. We’re turning that stop into something meaningful: a chance to relax, refuel and enjoy a true Bojangles experience. This is about more than charging vehicles, it’s about redefining the stop along the way.”

The Savannah EV location is part of the brand’s planned national roll out of EV charging stations at Bojangles locations in key markets across the country. The charging stations will vary between level two (medium) and level three (high) speed charging efficiency with over 97% uptime.

Per the brand, “the new hub signals Bojangles’ evolution beyond traditional quick-service dining, … positioning  the brand … at the intersection of mobility and hospitality.”

Founded in 1977 in Charlotte, NC, Bojangles currently operates over 870 company-owned and franchised restaurants across 23 states. The privately held chain, known for its hand-breaded chicken, scratch-made biscuits and sweet tea, is currently in the process of expanding throughout Nevada, Colorado, and New York, and projecting a goal of having more than 1,000 stores nationwide within the next five years.
