Three years ago, Tribune Broadcasting signed up to carry MGM's This TV on its digital channel. The two companies have now extended their alliance to a new programming venture for the free digital network.

This TV shows MGM movies, culled from its library of 4,000 titles. This fall, Tribune Broadcasting will handle all This TV's programming operations.

Tribune became a partner with This TV a year after its November 2008 debut. The network is now carried in more than 85% of the U.S. New programs added to This TV’s lineup include the Oscar-winning “Platoon,” Benny and Joon” and UK hit "Four Weddings and a Funeral."

This TV has 130+ affiliates, including major market Tribune stations in various cities, such as New York, LA, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, San Diego and New Orleans.

John Bryan, president, Domestic TV Distribution for MGM TV, stated that This TV is the “best organization to optimize the network's growth through new content development and distribution opportunities.”

Sean Compton, president of programming for Tribune Broadcasting, called This TV “a leader in the digital network space,” adding that the movie lineup is a “perfect complement" to the television series lineup on Antenna TV, Tribune's digital network.

In addition to the MGM movie lineup, This TV carries a kids television block. Certain affiliates also air rebroadcasts of local news and regional sports events.
