Making a move to offer readers the most buzzworthy content in real-time, the New York Times has rolled out a new dashboard called “Trending.” The dashboard is dynamically updated in real-time based on the most popular NYT content at any given moment.
“[W]hile the Times homepage presents the most important news of the day, Trending reflects what resonates and excites readers and drives them to discuss and share,” the company wrote in an email explaining the new dashboard.
The stories that appear on the Trending dashboard are based on the stories that nytimes.com readers are reading, sharing and commenting on the most. The dashboard also includes stories that are generating the most buzz on social media channels as well as stories that are being shared most via email. The content displayed is updated every minute based on the most recent trends.
