Ad Industry Ethics Cross The Pond, IAE Unveils U.K. Edition

Less than two years after launching the first-ever advertising ethics certification program in the U.S., the Institute for Advertising Ethics (IAE) this week launched a version in the U.K.

The U.K. program, which was co-designed by U.K. advisor Geraint Lloyd-Taylor of Lewis Silkin, is similar in format to the U.S. version, but features individual contributions from leading U.K. thinkers.

Among them is exclusive interview segments with British philosopher Baroness Onora O’Neill, crossbench member of the House of Lords and author of “A Philosopher Looks at Digital Communication."

"There is an urgent need to move the dial on big issues, like the environment, protecting children and getting the right outcomes from A.I., and to do that, we need an ecosystem filled with ethical advertisers who don’t just talk the talk but walk the walk," Lloyd Taylor and Silkin said in a joint statement.

The IAE said it is making a "limited number of free access codes" available as part of the launch, and will host a "virtual open house" on July 14th for prospective ad industry students.
