'The Forward' Drops Its Paywall To Serve Readers At A Critical Time

The Forward, a publication that has served Jewish readers for 126 years, is removing its paywall. For the first time in its history, “Forward journalism will be free and available to everyone everywhere,” according to an email from Rachel Fishman Feddersen, CEO and publisher, and Jodi Rudoren, editor in chief.

They add, “We’re taking this step because during this chaotic moment of war, disinformation and rising antisemitism, we believe that open access to all our independent Jewish journalism is essential.”

The email continues, “Now more than ever, American Jews need news they can trust, with reporting driven by truth, not ideology.”

However, it adds that while "Forward journalism is now free to read, it isn’t free to produce," and asks readers to become members by making donations.
