Scaachi Koul To Serve Slate As A Senior Writer

Slate has hired Scaachi Koul as a senior staff writer, effective June 3.

Previously, Koul was a culture writer for BuzzFeed News, and has also written for New Yorker, the New York Times, the Hairpin, the Globe and Mail and Jezebel. In addition, Koul is the author of a book of essays One Day We’ll All Be Dead and None of This Will Matter.

Koul will write mainly for Slate, but will also occasionally appear on Slate podcasts. She has been featured in Slate podcasts before this.

“I’m so excited that Scaachi is making Slate her home base for her essays, culture criticism, reported features, and more,” says Jeffrey Bloomer, editorial director of Slate. “We are thrilled to have her—she has a ton of great ideas and enthusiasm and is, at the very least, going to galaxy-brain our reality television coverage to a new level.”
