New York Times digital chief Martin Nisenholtz is leaving the Old Gray Lady after 16 years.
Nisenholtz, 56, said he plans to retire at the end of the year, according to a memo circulated to employees on Monday from NYTs Chairman Arthur Sulzberger Jr. and CEO Janet Robinson.
Nisenholtz, who has been a key player in the development of the Times' digital publishing platform, and some of the tough business model decisions it has had to make, started out on Madison Avenue, where he was an early pioneer of digital media.
