WPP's Xaxis today announced the launch of Xaxis Places, a programmatic platform for digital out-of home (DOOH) inventory. According to the release, advertisers will be able to link their DOOH campaigns with online and mobile efforts.
DOOH has flirted with programmatic for a while now, and Xaxis Places is just part of recent developments at WPP - Spafax has been heavily involved in adopting RTB for DOOH. Going out-of-home isn't unique to WPP, though. Just yesterday, ADstruc struck a deal with Mediaocean.
The company claims in the release that more than 1.4 billion DOOH impressions will be served via RTB on more than 100,000 screens each month.
