Bing said Friday that it updated its movie search guide on search engine query results to make it easier for moviegoers to find and buy tickets for the latest film releases such as "Ex Machina," "Furious 7," "Women in Gold," and "Unfriended." The move was prompted by suggestions by Bing.com users at Bing Listens, a site that allows users to voice their opinions and recommendations on services the search engine offers.
For movie searches, the query requires individuals to type in "summer movie guide" rather than "movie guide" to see the information on bing.com. The query returns a carousel listing the latest film releases. Clicking on a specific movie brings searchers to see show times, links to trailers, cast information, and reviews. The ability to buy a ticket is powered by Fandango. The searcher enters a number of tickets and the automated calculator tallies up the total.
The feature also pulls in the latest movie reviews, including real-time comments via Twitter from those who already saw the movie.
