Condé Nast will open an Austin “digital innovation center” this summer to help grow their digital media efforts.
The new office will serve as “an outpost in the company’s network of digital teams and provide additional engineering and product development for Condé Nast’s digital portfolio,” per the company.
Condé Nast claims to be the first major media company to establish a permanent presence in Austin, Texas.
“Austin has become an epicenter of digital talent and creativity, and establishing our presence there will not only enable us to accelerate our growth, but it also will provide us with insight into cutting edge technology and keep us at the forefront of the industry,” stated Fred Santarpia, EVP and Chief Digital Officer at Condé Nast.

The center will be pivotal to Condé Nast’s plans to expand its digital operations, according to the company.
In a report from the Austin American-Statesman, one of the city’s major daily newspapers, Condé Nast’s digital innovation center will employ up to 50 workers, including local engineers, product and design employees.
Santarpia told the Statesman that the office will have room to grow after the first year and will open in July. The location of the Austin office has not yet been announced.
Austin employees will work on Condé Nast’s digital distribution efforts, focusing on their media websites and mobile apps like Snapchat, Santarpia told the Statesman.
Santarpia added that the decision to open the new office in Austin was largely inspired by the pool of talented workers available in the city.
Austin will be part of Condé Nast’s established network of digital teams located in New York, San Francisco, Chicago and London.
