Time Inc. Teams Wochit To Create More Video Content

Time Inc. today announced a partnership with Wochit, a cloud-based video creation platform, to help reach its goal to create more than 40,000 pieces of video content in 2016.

Wochit will be part of Time Inc.’s brands' strategy to produce real-time, short-form video, especially for breaking or trending news.

“Partnering with Wochit gives us a powerful tool to further accelerate the volume of our real-time video productions, which we can integrate at the deepest levels across our sites and social channels,” stated Brandon Fong, vice president of business development at Time Inc. Video.

Through this partnership, Time Inc. video producers can now incorporate Wochit’s technology into their daily editorial workflow to generate a rapid production of video stories.

They will then be distributed across their brand sites and social channels, adding supplemental content to each brand’s existing video projects.

According to TechCrunch, Wochit helps online publishers create short videos by analyzing the text of an article and uses their technology to find licensed photos, videos and graphics to build a video around that story. Publishers can edit the video and add features such as background music and narration.

Time Inc. told TechCrunch that 21 of its brands, including Entertainment Weekly, Fortune, People and Time, have already tried out Wochit as part of a pilot program.

According to Time Inc., 23 of its brands are experiencing at least double-digit year-over-year percentage growth in video views; nine brands are seeing triple-digit growth; and seven have achieved quadruple-digit growth.

Time Inc. has recently unveiled other initiatives to ramp up its video output, such as the launch of Extra Crispy, a new digital editorial brand dedicated to the culture surrounding breakfast and brunch, and Instant, a mobile-first, all-video digital platform featuring content about and made by digital celebrities.
