Hearst is seeking to relaunch Cosmopolitan in Australia.
The title was closed by its then publisher Bauer Media in 2018. But Hearst executives have
been talking to at least two local publishing companies about publishing a magazine under the Cosmo brand name, with licensed content, Financial
Review reports.
“We’re talking to publishers in Australia about the potential of bringing one of our largest global brands into the
market,” says Ali Abelson, vice president of global brand development for Hearst Magazines, Financial Review continues.
Cosmo was
published for over 40 years in Australia until the 2018 closing. According to Financial Review, Chief Executive Paul Dykzeul said the “commercial viability of the magazine in
Australia is no longer sustainable.”
