Global FAST Ad Revenue To Triple, To $18B, By 2028

Ad revenue from free, ad-supported streaming services (FASTs) will reach $18 billon globally by 2028 — tripling 2022’s global revenue of $6 billion, according to a new projection by Digital TV Research.

The U.S. will add nearly $6 billion between 2022 and 2028, to reach nearly $9.8 billion, but due to growth in other markets, the U.S.’s share will decline from 67% to 55%.

“The FAST market by platform will remain fragmented,” said Simon Murray, principal analyst at Digital TV Research. "Pluto TV, The Roku Channel and Samsung TV Plus will account for half the global total by 2028.”

Pluto TV alone is projected to quadruple its ad revenue through international expansion, from $1.1 billion in 2022 to $4.2 billion in 2028.

FAST revenues are defined as advertising from online linear channels. FAST revenues are a subsegment of overall ad-supported video-on-demand (AVOD) revenues.
