Marka Sonoga has joined The Corry (Pennsylvania) Journal and six sister publications operated by the Sample News Group, as publisher. 

Previously, Sonoga was publisher and advertising director of Adams Publishing Group, which publishes eight local newspapers in Ohio, and she has served at publications in Indiana, Arkansas and Georgia.  

Sonoga will be closer to family with the move to Pennsylvania.  

“After you’ve lived around the bigger cities, a small town has a certain appeal,” she says.  

Sonoga feels local newspapers have a bright future despite fears to the contrary.  

“We’ve had to change with the way the industry has changed,” she comments. “It’s much different than it used to be, but in the communities that we’re in, we still offer their local news. Where else are they going to get it? It’s just important that we have that niche.”
