Starbucks has launched Starbucks for Android, enabling customers to pay, manage their Starbucks Card, check their rewards status and use other features using Android 2.1 or above phones.
With the addition of the Android app, a mobile payment option is available through about 90% of smartphone models currently in use, according to the company.
In addition, in July, the
Safeway, Inc. supermarket chain will roll out mobile payment at nearly 1,000 Starbucks locations within its stores across the U.S. A mobile payment capability is already available at Starbucks' nearly
6,800 U.S. company-operated stores, and in more than 1,000 Starbucks locations in Target stores.
