Entertainment Foodservice Sales On the Rebound

  • April 9, 2012

Foodservice sales at U.S. sports and entertainment venues dropped 4% in 2009, but have since rebounded to pre-recession levels, according to a new report on the sector from Packaged Facts.

These venues’ foodservice revenues will reach $8.36 billion this year, up 5% from 2011, the researchers estimate.

To respond to challenges including declining attendance and resistance to pricing increases, the industry took some cues from the restaurant industry, aggressively improving food selection, quality, menu flexibility and customer experience.

The resulting improved, higher-end foodservice programs have turned entertainment venues into food destinations, as well as transformed the overall entertainment venue experience, says Packaged Facts Publisher David Sprinkle.

Increasing retail options, club seats and suites, and enhancing other amenities, has also contributed to these venues’ revenue rebound, according to the report.
