Twitter has acquired social TV analytics provider Trendrr as the microblogging service continues to establish itself as the primary platform for real-time conversations around TV shows.
Earlier this year, Twitter bought social TV metrics firm Bluefin Labs and late last year, it struck a partnership with Nielsen to develop a Twitter TV Rating tracking audience social media activity. More recently, Twitter has reportedly been in talks with media companies like Viacom and NBC Universal about deals hosting TV clips on the social site with advertising.
Trendrr said in a blog post today that it would honor existing contracts for its flagship TV analytics product, but doesn’t plan to enter into any new ones. Its Curatorr service -- a real-time dashboard for tracking conversations around particular topics -- will continue to work with media companies, marketers and other partners “to create compelling user experiences.”
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
