To gear up for the 2016 election season and beyond, broadcast radio company iHeartMedia on Friday announced the appointment of Kenny Day as SVP of political sales and strategy.
Day joins iHeartMedia from BrightRoll, the programmatic video ad platform Yahoo acquired last summer.
Day will oversee the company’s political and advocacy efforts and will lead a Washington, D.C.-based team. Earlier in his career, Day was associate publisher at Politico, per his LinkedIn page.
Day will report to Jeff Howard, president of national sales at iHeartMedia. Howard stated that Day will work closely with iHeartMedia’s burgeoning programmatic business to help political candidates reach specific audiences.
In his own prepared comments, Day also noted that he will be using iHeartMedia’s programmatic ad platform -- particularly in the build up to the 2016 election.
Day’s appointment comes just weeks after iHeartMedia hired Carter Brokaw to help lead the company’s ad tech efforts. The latest hiring reaffirms iHeartMedia’s commitment to programmatic technologies.
Day steps into his new role beginning July 23, 2015.
