Pizza Hut Launches Seasoning Gift For The Holiday Season

Pizza Hut’s new merch offering would make a good gift for the pizza-inclined.

The brand’s Collectible Seasoning Duet Box Set features two new spice blends, along with a limited-edition shaker, designed to closely resemble Pizza Hut's faux Tiffany-esque stained glass lamps.

The “Make it Pepperoni'” seasoning is a spicy (and surprisingly vegan) topping that “captures the … flavors of Pizza Hut's signature pepperoni,” according to a release. The topping can be used on everything from popcorn, pasta and avocado toast to ice cream, says the chain.

The “Everything Pizza Shake” combines multiple pizza toppings into one shaker, such as oregano, red pepper flake, parmesan as well as an umami blend.

Also included: the limited-edition Hut Shaker, which is a retro-inspired pizzeria shaker that pays homage to Pizza Hut stained-glass lamps and can be used with either seasoning blend.

A lamp may seem an odd item to pay homage to in a gift set, but lighting fixtures have quite a cult following online. Vintage versions go for as much as $450 on eBay.

The boxed set was designed in collaboration with Chain, a Los Angeles based creative culinary collective that began during the pandemic as a partnership between celebrity chef Tim Hollingsworth and actor B.J. Novak. The duo was responsible for several pop-ups in various Los Angeles alleys serving reinterpreted takes on classic chain restaurant items, such as Outback Steakhouse’s Bloomin’ Onion and Chili’s Southwestern Egg Rolls.

Chain, which has now expanded operations to include the exclusive Chain restaurant in West Hollywood, Calif., branched out into product marketing when contacted by Pizza Hut earlier this year to design the limited-edition reversible “Hut Hat,” a bucket hat with one side resembling Pizza Hut’s red roof and the other a resembling the same lamp shades.

“Those Pizza Hut Tiffany lamps are some of the most iconic pieces of New Americana design,” said Nicholas Kraft, a co-founder at Chain, in an earlier release. “They elicit such joy and fond memories, and let’s be real: They kinda look like bucket hats all on their own.”

The box set is priced at $60 and is available for a limited time only while supplies last for preorder at eatatchain.com.
