Three summers ago, the U.S. Men's National Team had something of a coming-out party. They were drawn into that year's Group of Death with sneaky-deadly Ghana, early contending favorites Portugal and eventual champions Germany. Hopes of their advancement were low, outside of the truest of believers. Of course, they did advance, and in doing so triggered another round of "here comes soccer, finally" speculation.

This week, 21 years ago, on Microsoft's website Bill Gates wrote an essay - we didn't call them blogs back then, did we? - with a headline destined for countless textbooks to come. Titled simply "Content Is King," Bill's essay asserted that, just like with broadcast and radio technology before it, money that would be made on the Internet would not be in the manufacturing of hardware - but, instead, in the creation of content.
- Best Practices In Experiential Marketing -- Making Brands The Event in

We have a saying at our agency that goes, "Don't just take brands to the event, make brands the event." The first time you read it, it can feel like the sort of silly too-clever marketing lyricism that most people roll their eyes at when it comes from anyone but Don Draper. Flat out, there are too many options for entertainment in 2015. With commitments at work, to family, to friends, to hobbies, there's just too much stuff going on to stay up on all of the things all of the time. You've got to figure out how to prioritize your free time in a way that makes sense for you. For me, the priority is with live entertainment - and it always has been, really. Movies end up on DVD. Today's hot TV show will make it to Hulu or on Netflix. Gatsby will still be as great if you read about him five years from now. I promise.
- The Autos Strike Back in

As the autos continue to rebound in 2011, I look forward to more associations and collaborations, not just through sports or influencer marketing, but also through event marketing.
