PHD Worldwide, part of Omnicom Media Group, has retained the global Porsche media business following a formal review.
The German carmaker spends an estimated $100 million annually on ads. The decision came after a final pitch round that also included WPP’s MediaCom.
PHD first won the business in 2010, when the client last conducted a global media agency review.
The global account is coordinated out of PHD Germany, based in Frankfurt.
Mike Cooper, CEO of PHD Worldwide, said: “Porsche is one of the world’s most prestigious brands and we’re delighted that we will continue to work with them and build on the successful partnership we’ve had over the past three years.”
Last year PHD was appointed Bentley Motors’ global media agency of record, the first time the British carmaker named a global media AOR.
Earlier this year PHD won the global category planning for GSK. That assignment followed Unilever’s decision late last year to award the shop its global communications planning responsibilities. Other clients include HTC, Hyatt and numerous others.
