There has been a flurry of activity in the “programmatic TV” space of late, and now SpotXchange, a supply-side platform (SSP) for video advertising, has joined the party. The company has announced the appointment of Randy Cooke as VP of programmatic TV. Cooke joins SpotXchange from NCC Media, where he served as VP of research.
Cooke will be tasked with creating marketplaces that support the programmatic trading of linear TV inventory, per a release.
The recent spat of programmatic TV news began with TubeMogul’s launch of a self-serve platform for programmatic TV ad buying that taps into WideOrbit, AudienceXpress, clypd and placemedia for supply.
Additionally, late last week Cox Media and Magna Global, the media-buying unit of IPG Mediabrands, announced plans to launch a private programmatic TV marketplace using AudienceXpress’ platform. The marketplace, expected to launch in early 2015, will allow Magna clients to buy Cox Media inventory via AudienceXpress.
