Programmatic television supply-side platform (SSP) clypd on Tuesday announced the appointment of Pete Doe as chief research officer. He will oversee clypd’s TV data research initiatives, per a release.
“Data integration has become the biggest hurdle to programmatic success,” Doe stated, adding that this hurdle proves a “unique opportunit[y]" for a researcher to crack the code, so to speak.
He was formerly SVP of data science at Nielsen.
Before serving as SVP of data science at Nielsen, Doe held several other roles at the measurement firm, including stints as SVP of data integrations at Nielsen Company, managing director at NielsenConnections and VP of analytics and modeling at Nielsen Research Center.
Prior to Nielsen, Doe held senior roles at RSMB, a London-based television audience firm.
Clypd’s decision to land a chief research officer should not come as a surprise. The company has been investing in TV data research for some time. Earlier this year, for example, clypd inked a deal with TiVo’s research and analytics department to beef up the amount of audience data it had access to.
Shortly after the TiVo partnership, clypd raised nearly $20 million in a Series B round of funding led by RTL Group, a German broadcaster owned by Bertelsmann.
