Cheddar, the streaming video news and lifestyle network, will be added to Hulu’s live and on-demand services later this month, which marks one of the channel’s biggest distribution deals yet.
As part of the deal, Cheddar’s linear channel will be added to the Hulu with Live TV lineup, as well as Hulu-exclusive morning and afternoon news briefs. Those news briefs and additional on-demand content will be added to Hulu’s basic on-demand plan as well.
In a statement announcing the deal, Hulu senior VP and head of partnerships and distribution Tim Connolly said that subscribers watched “24 million hours of news in the first quarter of 2018,” adding that the addition of Cheddar gives “younger viewers access to a greater, more diverse selection of live news options.”
Cheddar has made a point of making itself available as widely as possible, both through social networks like Twitter and Facebook, but also through over-the-top streaming bundles and other subscription services, such as Hulu, YouTube TV and Sling TV.
