Time, American Family Mark 60th Anniversary Of 'March On Washington'

Today marks the 60th Anniversary of the March on Washington and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s speech, "I have a dream." To commemorate the occasion, American Family Insurance and Time magazine have created a campaign calling attention to the event and celebrating those who continue to "dream fearlessly” (a nod to the insurer’s “Insure Carefully, Dream Fearlessly” tagline). 

The effort includes a tribute video (“60th Anniversary”), :30 commemorative spot (“The March”), and series of social videos. The campaign broke this morning on NBC’s Today program.

The videos were produced following a celebratory gala earlier this month and feature such notables as activist Yusef Salaam, actress Yara Shahidi, Olympic athlete Ibtihaj Muhammad and Bernice A. King, daughter of Martin Luther King Jr. 

The campaign is the latest iteration of a multiyear partnership between Time and American Family to commemorate the “March On Washington” in 1963 when King delivered the iconic “Dream” speech.  

Later this year, Time and American Family will announce the second annual “Dreamer of the Year” Award.  

Other partners involved with this campaign include Elite Media, American Family’s creative agency, Time’s Red Border Studios (production) and Performics (media).
