DirecTV, Cox Offer AR Version Of Andy Cohen Show

NBCUniversal has partnered with DirecTV and Cox to offer an augmented reality (AR) experience for the Bravo late-night talk show “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.”

Customers of Cox, DirecTV, DirecTV Stream or Sling TV can use a platform-specific QR code issued on the Bravo site to download the experience app on mobile or desktop devices.

The experience allows fans to virtually walk through a digital version of Cohen’s “Clubhouse,” look for featured objects, and answer trivia questions.

Traditional and streaming providers have in recent times been partnering with media companies on AR and virtual reality/VR content to keep fans engaged with content franchises.

In fact, this isn’t the first time out with AR for NBCU. In November 2022, the media company partnered with Verizon to offer an AR scavenger hunt tied to NBC’s “La Brea” series.

AR technology has been shown to “amplify viewer engagement” and drive added value for advertising and distribution partners, according to Matt Schnaars, president of NBCUniversal content distribution.

U.S. residents 21 and older can also enter a sweepstakes to win tickets to a live “Watch What Happens” show.
