CBS All Access Signs 12 Station Groups

CBS’ digital Web-based TV service, CBS All Access, has signed a number of deals with its traditional TV affiliates.

Twelve TV station groups in 56 markets -- amounting to 55% of U.S. TV homes -- have signed on to the over-the-top TV platform. CBS’ 14 owned-and-operated TV stations signed on for the launch of CBS All Access in October.

TV station groups include Dispatch Broadcast, Graham Media, Gray, Hearst, Lilly Broadcasting, Meredith, Morgan Murphy, Morris Network, Neuhoff Media, Nexstar, Raycom Media and Withers.

New markets to those bigger markets that signed up in October, such as New York, Los Angeles and Chicago, include Atlanta, Phoenix, Orlando, Cleveland, Columbus, St. Louis, Charlotte, Hartford, Kansas City and Las Vegas.

Terms were not disclosed. But CBS says stations will participate in a revenue-share and will also gain by having live viewership in their markets applied to their traditional TV Nielsen ratings. Reports say TV station can pull in 50 cents to $1 per subscriber/month. CBS All Access is priced to consumers at $5.99 a month.
