Ford Partners With Madewell

Ford Motor Co. is partnering with Madewell for a limited-edition capsule collection.

The items, which range in price from $19 to $145, combine Madewell’s premium denim with Ford’s history to deliver a product collection inspired by the Ford Bronco racers from the 1970s.

Madewell, founded in 1937, was originally a Massachusetts-based workwear company. Mickey Drexler, the former chief executive of J. Crew, acquired the trademark just before he joined the retailer in the early 2000s.

Available online and in select Madewell Men’s stores, the collection offers seven pieces: jeans, a work shirt, two graphic tees, a denim jacket, a trucker hat and a leather key fob.

Madewell’s signature 1991 Straight Leg Jean is available in a new, exclusive “Bronco” wash with a custom Madewell x Ford back patch.

Additionally, the collection features a denim jacket (also in the exclusive “Bronco” wash) complete with a custom Ford patch on the left chest and a new Trucker Hat in official “Ford Blue.”

This isn’t the first time the automaker has joined with a fashion brand. The Ford Blue Oval adorned the Versace men's line at Milan Fashion Week in 2019 via a one-year licensing deal.

Ford also enlisted several fashion brands to create items for the Ford Mustang’s 50th anniversary in 2014.

Nail polish maker OPI got the nod to do several new colors for the anniversary. A program called Mustang Unleashed featured the work of several clothing designers including Anna Sui.

The automaker, appropriately enough, only gave license deals to 50 companies to develop celebratory products for the 50th, including Detroit’s Shinola watches.
