McConaughey's Pantalones Tequila Debuts AI-Translated World Cup Campaign

One celebrity-owned tequila brand is using AI to welcome World Cup fans to the U.S. in their own language.

Pantalones Organic Tequila’s illustrious founder, Mathew McConaughey, stars in a new social ad for the brand, seen here, where he welcomes soccer tourists and gives a bit of advice to greeting the foreign fans.

“The whole world is here, but before you try to speak a new language, I suggest warming up with Pantalones Organic Tequila,” says McConaughey, as the camera focuses on some fancy soccer footwork next to a bottle of Pantalones. “Now you may not speak any more fluently, but you think you will,” he concludes as the camera pans up to see him take a shot of tequila.

McConaughey recorded the ad in English, but working with AI audio tech company ElevenLabs, the spot is also available in multiple languages at SpeakSoccer.com, including French, German, Italian, Spanish, Japanese and Portuguese.

Soccer fandom is nothing new for the brand; McConaughey is also a minority owner and the official “Minister of Culture” for Major League Soccer’s Austin FC, for which Pantalones is also an official team sponsor.

“The World Cup brings the entire world together, making it a natural fit for our brand which is built around connection and celebration,” a representative for Pantalones told Marketing Daily. “Working with ElevenLabs, we created a playful welcome that reflects Pantalones' personality while celebrating the global spirit of the game. With the brand's deep ties to soccer through Austin FC, the campaign felt like an authentic way for the brand to join the conversation.”

The brand is also commemorating the World Cup in real life through several Pantalones soccer-themed cocktails served at bars and restaurants in Atlanta and Austin.
