Despite growing consumer backlash over AI slop, TikTok has launched
“Dreamina Seedance 2.5,” the latest generation of ByteDance's AI video model, designed to provide advertisers with a larger canvas for their native AI-generated video ads.
Building on previous Dreamina releases, Seedance 2.5 was made to
support longer AI-generated video ads in TikTok's Symphony suite.
Now, advertisers will be able to build campaigns around 30 seconds of video generation instead of 15 seconds.
TikTok
hopes the expanded time span will provides its ad partners with more room to build “fuller narratives” that feel more native to the platform’s creator-driven feed.
After
spending years imprinting the virality of scrollable short-form video feeds on the general media landscape, TikTok is now pushing for longer-form content, especially among brands.

Late last
month, the company invited marketers to start developing and publishing branded
microdramas and other episodic promotional content within two designated hubs -- the Minis Center and the Drama Center -- with Growth Max functionality, an AI-powered advertising solution for
high-engagement verticals.
According to TikTok's announcement, Dreamina Seedance 2.5 was also designed for improved production capability, allowing advertisers to upload up to 50 multi-modal
references (image, video, and audio) while applying timestamped creative direction
TikTok announced the initial launch of Dreamina 2.0 in April, despite growing consumer tension around
the proliferation of AI slop on social media feeds.
Recently, Snapchat, LinkedIn, Patreon, Substack, Meta, and Pinterest have either tweaked their recommendation algorithms to prioritize
human-made content, or introduced new tools to cut back on the spread of AI-generated low-quality content.
While TikTok has similar transparency measures and user settings in place to
prioritize human-made content over AI-generated content, the company is pushing ahead with advertisers' ability to use AI to create, publish, and monetize from in-feed promotions.
